Next Up: Indiana

I watched part of the Cruz-Fiorina town hall Friday and have to admit I was quite impressed with both of them. It once again reminded me what I felt and said early in the Republican primaries, namely that Carly Fiorina might just make the best president of all the candidates in the field.
Carly is smart, tough, and has a quick tongue that converts her thoughts into words at trip-hammer speed. And it’s not surprising when you think about it. After all, a female would have to be smart, tough, and quick-tongued to rise from a secretarial job to CEO of a giant, global corporation. It’s an impressive feat, to put it mildly.
Unfortunately, Carly is also caustic, snarky, and nasty to the point of turning people off. It’s no accident that Cruz picked her as his running mate, because her negative traits fit in perfectly with his equally dislikeable personality.
In any event, Fiorina isn’t running for president, so my focus is on Cruz. Notwithstanding his many foibles, I continue to believe that he would very quickly try to implement more small-government, pro-liberty policies than any other candidate. The problem is that he is so disliked — even hated — by so many members of the House and Senate that he would constantly be running into roadblocks.
Trump is a whole different story. Unlike Cruz, he has already indicated that he would go along with a lot of liberal policies, and he would probably have much more success than Cruz when it comes to taking strong action on such issues as immigration, crime, and a wide variety of secular-progressive insanities. That’s because Trump, notwithstanding his arrogance and his penchant for insults, has an odd sort of charm about him.
The bottom line is that no matter if Cruz or Trump wins the Republican nomination, the winner will annihilate Hillary (if she isn’t knocked out of the race by the FBI first). And once either of them are in office, many things will change for the better rather quickly, though the size of the national debt is not likely to be one of them.
The biggest challenge a President Trump or President Cruz would have is that even if Obama surrenders the keys to the White House voluntarily, he’s not going anywhere. That’s right, our Dear Leader has already said that he is staying put in Washington, and you can be certain that he will be actively engaged in trying to push his agenda forward. And just as certain that the media will be asking him to chime in regularly on government affairs as though he were still in office.
But first things first. The Indiana primary will give us a better idea of whether it’s going to be Cruz or Trump, so here’s a quick summary of the pluses Cruz and Trump have added to their resumes over the past few days:
Trump pluses:
- The ignorant rioters that showed up at the two Trump events in California only succeeded in making his anti-illegal-immigrant case for him, which should give him a big lift.
- The endorsement of Bobby Knight is a plus, but, as with most endorsements, it’s impossible to tell how much of an impact it will have on voters. It’s worth noting, however, that Knight’s endorsement was over-the-top strong.
- Finally, I believe that Trump got a better endorsement from Gov. Mike Pence than Cruz did. In fact, it was probably the first time in history that a major endorser of a presidential candidate said such flattering things about a candidate he wasn’t even endorsing — and said them first. No doubt it made Cruz and his supporters gnash their teeth and curse as they watched Pence lavishly praise Trump.
Cruz pluses:
- Even though I thought Trump got the better of the tepid Mike Pence endorsement, it’s still possible that it will give Cruz a slightly bigger boost in votes.
- John Boehner’s calling Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh” and adding that he had “never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life” has to be a huge plus for Cruz, given that Boehner embodies everything voters hate about Washington. Ditto Peter King’s saying that he hates Ted Cruz and that he might take cyanide if Cruz gets the nomination.
I’m not listing Carly Fiorina as a plus for Cruz, because, as I said, she’s as dislikeable as he is, so I don’t know how many voters were turned off and how many voters were turned on by her addition to the Cruz ticket. Secondly, the video of Fiorina saying that Cruz is “just like any other politician” .. and that “he says whatever he needs to say to get elected” makes her value to him even more problematic.
Finally, I should add that I just finished watching Chris Wallace’s interviews with Trump and Cruz, and, as with a boxing match, I scored it blow by blow. Result? In all honesty, I thought the outcome was very lopsided — not even close. In favor of whom? I won’t say, because I don’t want to be accused of being biased, but I’d like to hear your opinion.
Now, it’s time to get on with Indiana’s biggest game since Milan High School won the Indiana State Championship in 1954. Gene Hackman and Bobby Plump must be loving the drama.
Though I didn't get to see the entire Wallace interview, I found both Trump and Cruz to be equally irritated by Wallace. Neither of these candidates respect Chris Wallace and each do their best to prevent him from advancing the popular media narrative; namely the progressive agenda. Trump seems to frustrate Wallace better than Cruz therefore I think Trump has the edge when it comes to advancing his brand.
The only person who has a chance to get the nomination is a proven executive whose speeches have been 100% America first. I'll take that any day over a globalist conservative with zero proven executive experience.
The Mafia, Soros, illegal Polish workers with no safety gear, illegal so called university, the charges of racist' housing policy by the DOJ, Trump settlement of the case, the rep of Slow Pay in NYC, none of that bothers you the fact that his entire reason for running is his company which he lied about in the financial statement net net it is some $1.5 billion at most … at fair market value, none of that bothers you ? I assure you it will bother the independent voters .. .the models I am looking at show at the very best a 8 state for Trump and that is at the very best .. He will not improve any at the election and he does not have the money to run.. and he can not get it .. a total wipe out .. I rate it 50/50 that he carries not a single state…!
I don't believe a word you write. You are a "concern troll," pretending to be one of us while bashing our front runner.
You may want to keep an eye on the "smart money" in Las Vegas and London. They'll soon be handicapping the general election and they are good, very good, at what they do.
You could have gotten DT at + 250 before the Indiana primaries(100 dollars gets you 350 dollars back)
Those odds will be non-existant fairly soon(especially if you see those 41-39 Trump numbers on Rasmmussen Polls continue).I think the Donald may beat Hillary by 6 points(which is a landslide)
and it wouldn't surprise me if he wins by 10 points.
Robert,
It makes me feel a lot better to read your posts and see your confidence at how easily either Trump or Cruz would crush granny Clinton, but of course you know almost every public poll out right now says this is completely wrong.
I don't necessarily put a ton of stock in any polls this early in the contest, but it does give me pause if I allow myself to think what if they are right? 8 years of granny and grandpa Clinton would be DEVASTATING to America. After 8 years of Obama with 8 more of her would probably be enough to finish the country off for sure. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope your confidence and predictions are right on the mark and whoever is elected decimates her in November.
How many polls had Trump becoming the Republican nominee early on? As Trump says, he hasn't even started on Hillary yet. She's the most flawed candidate in history. But it's still going to be up to James Comey as to whether or not she even runs.
Didn't a very recent poll show Trump ahead of Her Evilness?
I fear the fix is in for Hillary and no matter who the Republican candidate is the backdoor elites who control our government without our knowledge already have the voting machines rigged for Hillary. Regardless of the winner, nothing will change the march of big government and its control over our lives. Now that they control our healthcare and healthcare records, have intimate details on our financial lives through tax returns, they record our emails, texts and phone calls, and they are in the process of eliminating cash and moving towards complete digital records on every transaction, they will have effectively trapped every one of us.
The issue is simple: CNN alone has 14 hours of video on Trump. I have about one hour of it, it is all bad. Mafia, Soros, Polish illegals with no safety gear, the fraud University, and now the Sex Assault lawsuit. And do not forget that Epstein had 14 of Trump's phone numbers in his phone book … the media who want Trump as a safety net for Hillary will drop the free coverage day one if he is the nominee… and if Trump is the nominee the GOP does not win the White House the last leg in their transition. The Regressive Right will deliver the victory to Hillary along with 6 to 18 Senate Seats, therefore a packed extreme supreme court and the by pass of the Bill of Rights .. .and packing the voter rolls for the next two years .. .30 to 40 seats in the house. Conservatives we too concerned with the 17 candidate shift to understand that what is coming is going to end America as we have known it. And quite fast … Neo Fascist ideology is sweeping the world and Obama was Fascist lite .. Hillary will be total evil as she tries to alter the country in her image … all because the once asleep, institutive thinking, regressive right was angry at the GOP for not fighting more even though it would have made no difference … the worst part is that Nancy Pelosi will be Speaker and my guess is that this is all for life .. Regressive Right folks do not study, do not read.. I just finished rereading two books from the 1934 and 1944 years … these were focused on the rise of Hitler .. and the image of him in 1932 is not different from Trump, Hillary and Sanders .. who was played by Bill Clinton to test the waters for the 2018 election where they introduce 'The End of Work" .. really a bad deal…
You are what is known as a "troll." You are dessimenating Democrat talking points with a strong leftist bias. Comparing Trump to the rise of Hitler is way over the top. Go back to move on.org or whatever leftwing site you sprang from.
Wrong tense. They have already trapped every one of us. Government, by its very nature, is inherently evil.
Amen to every sentence. And now some of the thieves are working on creating paperless money in the U.S. Of course, first they need to introduce the concept to our kids at a young age, it will take a few years to successfully perform the official liberal indoctrination. But once implemented, an online monetary scheme will be the end of freedom and the beginning of a fascism that we cannot even imagine.
Executive-schmecutive. I want someone who UNDERSTANDS what this country is all about and KNOW how to LEGALLY bring the promise of this country back to its origins. "Proven executive" cronies and America HATERS CAUSED all the damages we are now suffering under.
The only people who actually think Ted Cruz is unlikable are the people who have never actually watched and listened to him like rank and file democrats and those who instead listen to the democrat-socialist media and the demo-republicans who are scared to death of him because HE WILL END THEIR CRONYISM. Kind of like the scared and petulant sore-loser, John Boehner. The other thing going against Ted Cruz is the fact that, though he tries, he isn't as warm and funny as Ronald Reagan. He is, however, probably one of the smartest people in America right now with an audio-graphic memory, a true conservative who actually isn't fooled by the left, like Reagan was. "Trust but verify" was VERIFIED to be a losing proposition after Simpson-Mazzolli and Ted Cruz has the knowledge not to trust. Reagon did and look what that got him. You think he won't be able to bring the criminal cronies in line in D.C.? Well, he can do what Reagan did, go to the people to get his agenda pushed through….if the people happen to be smart enough to push him to the top. It's looking doubtful that they are. Who knows? Maybe we'll get lucky and Ted Cruz will win in the manner that Abraham Lincoln did…..on the 2nd or 3rd delegate vote!
There are a lot of factors as to why Ted Cruz isn't doing as well as he should. The presidential beauty contest judging him not to be Reaganesque, Trump's carnival-barker celebrity taking all the oxygen from the room, and the combination of low-info people who believe the leftist media rather than their own eyes. Stupid people. However, I'm convinced Trump is only doing as well as he is because of open primaries and leftists are voting him up. Once the general is in play, Trump is going to see a big chunk of those votes go for the latest communist on the democrat ticket.
Conservatives who think Trump will be better in the White House, just aren't listening to EITHER candidate. Trump is a through and through CRONY and he may do some good, but mostly he will do what the CRONIES want. Ted Cruz, HATED by the cronies because THEY KNOW he will END their THEFT of tax-payer dollars and freedoms.
REALLY look at both candidates, use YouTube and watch both of them in interviews. READ what they've done in their past lives. THIS IS IMPORTANT, put your knee-jerk emotions aside and LISTEN to these two people. WHO REALLY CARES if one is more "likeable" than the other? Then decide. Who do you REALLY think will make the most lasting and POSITIVE changes to bring back America to her INTENDED greatness?
Robert already knows that I believe the fix is in for her thighness … and in this article he reaffirmed my belief by indicating that omaba will be around DC for a few more years … no doubt to be hitlery's key advisor, even if he is in the shadows, and I suspect that that arrangement is already in place … guess what agenda they will push to the forefront? … get ready for more of the same, folks …
I'm of two minds. Part of me really wants Hillary to become president, because it looks like the socioeconomic collapse that we all know is coming won't happen under Obama. So, I'd really like to see Hillary and Bill get the blame for what the mess they helped create.
On the other hand, I think Trump would do the best job in managing a massive bankruptcy and collapse of western civilization. So, it would be a small advantage to wake up every morning knowing that Trump was in Washington.
Anybody who's not prepared for a wild ride from here on out better reevaluate their long-term and short-term survival strategy. Yeah, buckle up, because whoever becomes president isn't going to change the inevitable. The end game might change, but the ending remains the same.
As far as Cruz goes, it's my opinion that he's much less of a man than was Nixon. So, no hope there, unless, of course, you believe Cruz is anointed by God — like Ted's father does. Glenn Beck is supposedly fasting and praying his ass off to God in behalf of Cruz. Well, I guess the reason why so many are supplicating God is because they're really, really desperate. While Glenn is on his knees, he better ask God to save his business from bankruptcy……
Trump may be a strong enough communicator to convey that the collapse, if it happens under his watch, is the result of socialist spending, etc. Hard to say. But he sure calls out the opposition on everything else.
My daughter is turning 18 in early June which is right before the primaries. We have our work cut out for her since we want to educate her on how to research candidates and ballot measures. I can hear it now…."Well, honey, here's how you find the less noxious candidate who will do the least damage over the next four years."
Maybe some day in my lifetime we'll have good choices for candidates again.
Sadly the choices from either organized crime family will continue the decline of the USA. Trump would put citizens at risk everywhere in the civilized world and vastly decrease trade. Cruz would empower the robber barons and cause a financial chrisis that would make "W' s malfeasance look like pocket change. Kasich will be business as usual and slow decline. Same for Hillary. Bernie would make a splash but Congress would not gridlock but just refuse to act on both sides of the aisle. Thus the people have a choice of a shit sandwich our only choice is mayo ,mustard or name a condiment. $$ and congress must go and citizens must stand up! NO D or R just USA
Sad, very sad, very very very sad!
Robert, I wish I shared your confidence that no matter who the Republicans nominate they will beat Hillary. I am worried that so many people seem to be ready to vote for her Evilness primarily because of her gender.
I just hope that the Republican nominee stands out of the way and lets the left destroy the Hildabeast. More than a few icons of pop culture, including the Bamster himself at the WH Press dinner, have made pretty nasty comments about Hilz. If she is perceived to have "stolen" the nomination from Bernie, then she's probably lost the yute vote and she doesn't resonate with union rank and file members too well. If the R candidate stays focused on a message and lets Bernie, BLM and others trash Hillary, things will work out well.
It's over for Ted.
Glenn Beck should keep fasting.
I've said it before and I'm going to say it again. The Republican nominee had better watch out for Hell-ary. In every election there is ballot stuffing and just plain dirty tricks but she is going to bring it to a whole new level never seen before. My guess is that if it looks like she is going to lose then she will go to the keeper of the gate George Soros and do anything that he wants her to do in order for the win by rigging the election. Expect to see it on the November election and don't say I didn't warn you.
Wouldn't it be funny if all the ruckus would be at the Democratic convention?Sure could be if Hillary gets in trouble for Crimes vs America around convention time.(and the Cleveland convention just becomes a formality)
I hope Reality Seeker and RR and all the rest of the Trumpers are happy with what happened today. I wouldn't vote for Trump if I had a winning Mega-lottery ticket. He is a complete and total psycho and very dangerous. He seems not to care what words come out of that big mouth of his. He won Indiana by a huge margin he has the gall to imply Ted Cruz's father is involved in the Kennedy assassination. THAT IS TOTALLY INSANE. And even now as I write this he is still tweeting "Lyin' Ted!" after he has already won Indiana. What kind of man does this? A man who is fit for president? Did anyone ever hear of having some character and integrity? Trump is like a junior high school bully who can't stop bashing people.
What kind of a psychotic is a SORE WINNER???
I hope Trump loses. And to quote Rush the golfer (another traitor to conservatism) if Trump does win, I hope he fails. There's no difference and as the famous adage goes, The people get the government they deserve."
Yeah, I'm rather "happy" today, but not because I think Trump will solve any long-term problems. There is a chance, however small, that Trump will make the American Empire "great" — for awhile. He could actually do that. Maybe. Just maybe.
I hate to have to say it: the American Republic is gone — long gone– so get over it. We all might as well sit back, relax and enjoy the Romanesque spectacle that's already begun.
Glenn Beck is on suicide watch, and that, frankly, is very amusing to me.. And Hillary is on notice. Donald Trump is going to tear her apart. Make no mistake about it: what you're about to see is the biggest beat-down in political history. Hillary is about to become Trump's personal chew toy. And, yes, I'm "happy". So happy. I'm happy that I'm going to see Trump and Hillary head-to-head on the debate floor. It's going to be the most entertaining political spectacle in my lifetime. And if Trump is psycho, what of it? I like watching Trump as much as I like watching Jack Nicholson.
I'm happy! So Happy! So happy, so happy and gay!

Get ready for the BIG show. Trump vs Hillary. I can't wait to see what Trump will do to her. What I'm going to be focused on more than anything is to see how Clinton will handle Trumps attacks. It's going to be something else to see this. Trump loves to attack as we all know and he will annihilate her. Get ready. He's already started branding her as Crooked Hillary. The show has just begun.
Agreed. With both Cruz and Kasich now out of the game, it is Hillary’s turn in Trump’s sights for his wild politician destruction derby. It should be even more entertaining than the preliminary rounds. It appears that “Anonymous” is ready to help with an outline for the opposition research:

How many of those scandals had you forgotten? How many have young voters never even heard of? What are the chances that they soon will? This is going to be continuously amusing to watch, especially the dilemma of the #NeverTrump cabal, as he systematically rips the bark off her, on the way to his overwhelming victory in November… ? ◄Dave►

This is a typical reaction from a typical Trumpeter. Attack. Annihilate. I don't like Hillary but I don't use words like that. How about, "I can't wait to see the Trump and Clinton debates because Hillary will lose?" Or, "Hillary will do terribly in the debates against Trump." But no, you use TrumpSpeak. It's all part of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
nice article http://mercuriusfund.com/blog/
